"Working together as a dynamic team to provide the best for all learners"
I would like to extend a warm welcome to our School on behalf of the Staff and the Governors.
We are a 78 pupil community special school which has pupils from 4 - 16 years. Our pupils' needs range from having Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities to Severe or Moderate Learning Disabilities. Some of our pupils have an additional diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition.
Our pupils are taught in discrete groups (PMLD / SLD / ASC) across each Key Stage as we believe this gives our pupils the maximum potential for learning and social development, but we also work inclusively across the school too for curriculum and social experiences.
Our school is calm, purposeful and friendly with a family atmosphere appreciated by our families and other visitors. We understand the holistic nature of our work and regard meeting the physical and emotional needs of our pupils as essential alongside being aspirational for their learning. We work collaboratively and successfully with a wide range of health and social care colleagues to maximise the potential of all of our pupils.
We recognise that a place for a child is also a place for the family and we will fully support all families with behaviour, toileting, eating and other issues. We run a Siblings Group for brothers and sisters of pupils at the school, which offers trips out and sessions at Hillside on a Saturday where they can enjoy being spoiled and share their experiences of having a sibling with special needs.
All the Governors and staff at Hillside take very seriously the trust parents place in us when they send their child to Hillside, and we work hard as a reflective, aspirational team with a sense of humour and passion for excellence every day, for the pupils at our school.
We are proud to welcome visitors, so whether you are a prospective parent, employee or are interested in another professional capacity, please get in touch.
